Counter-Strike Source – Tips and Tricks

To start with, it needs to be understood that in Counter-Strike: Source (CS), there are several different map types. These are:

Bomb Map (de). The Terrorist goal in the bomb map is always to cost a specific location (marked on your map) and plant an explosive. The explosive is on the timer, so once it’s planted, you should defend it until detonation.

The counter-terrorist goal on bomb maps would be to steer clear of the terrorists from planting the bomb at all costs. This can be achieved by reducing every one of the terrorists, defusing the planted bomb, or (in some cases) defending the bomb site until time expires.

Hostage Rescue (cs). In hostage rescue maps, the main goal for counter-terrorists would be to rescue hostages captured and held through the Terrorists. You may also win through the elimination of the terrorist team.

The Terrorist goal is usually to simply prevent the counter-terrorists from rescuing the hostages by reducing them, or maintaining control over the hostages until time runs out.

Bomb Maps – Counter-Terrorist. As being a counter-terrorist on bomb maps, the best choice (definitely) is always to take away the terrorist team before they are able to plant the bomb. Defusing the bomb makes you a sitting duck, and this is an issue you need to avoid. Maintaining your terrorists looking to plant the bomb means you are free to stay with the defensive, which gives an advantage.

Bomb Maps – Terrorist. Like a terrorist, your main goal is usually to completely overrun a bomb site. If you cann’t take over a bomb site within the first Half a minute, your team will likely lose the round. The most effective method is to rush everyone with a team aside from Several (tops) to a single site. The other few players will work as a distraction at the other site, so the counter-terrorists guarding it do not come in as re-enforcements.

Hostage Maps – Counter-Terrorist. I’ve found the best strategy to be spreading the group out and attacking from all of angles. Coordinate a simultaneous attack if possible, but be certain nobody just “runs in, guns blazing,” because that technique almost guarantees death within a hostage map.

If a person side with the attack manages to punch through and acquire inside the area under Terrorist control, other team should proceed to that area so that you can help the attack.
