The Gospel is Not Good News – It’s Great News
When Jesus came and brought the gospel of Christianity it turned out welcomed from the masses as exceptionally great news. Thousands followed him to listen for the language of life he spoke. After he was crucified, his disciples continued preaching and teaching his ways and so they were likewise welcomed since the bringers of fine news.
Of course not everyone was thrilled with this new teaching. The established religion through the day opposed it violently, even putting many to death for preaching the language of God. They whipped, beat, imprisoned and crucified many people who chose to follow or teach the new gospel. And yet despite the suffering inflicted, they couldn’t destroy this teaching or halt the spread of the good news.
One of many charges laid up against the early teachers on this gospel was that they had, “Turned the world upside down” using this type of teaching (Acts 17:6). Truly, the new teachings with the gospel of Christ were good news and tremendously powerful.
Many people will accept a lot of things, and not many would opt to suffer abuse, torture, ridicule or even die as opposed to renounce their beliefs. But such was the enormity and strength of this great news.
Consider also the state of the apostles shortly after Jesus was put to death. These folks were subdued and meeting in Jerusalem, wondering what to do next after their Lord and teacher was taken from them. However while they were gathered together marriage ceremony of Pentecost, the Holy Spirit with all the power of God discovered them, transforming them into powerful and charismatic preachers of the nice thing about it. Peter stood up among the people at his preaching on that day, 3,000 people looked to god, the father upon hearing what’s promising from the gospel (Acts 2:14-42).
Such will be the strength of the preaching of Christ which it can’t be merely called good news but it is “Great News”. No time before or since has there been this type of message as powerful because the gospel and truth of Christianity.
Why message so powerful? In this world man is plagued wonderful means of evil, both from within and without. Man suffers at the hands of his fellow man and many more so at his own hands by succumbing to the desires of his flesh. Man suffers disease, sickness and death, often caused by his or her own passions and desires. Man sins continually through lies, cheating, envy, jealousy and commits acts of murder, adultery, drug use, theft, insurrection and types of wrongdoing. On account of these and many other items, man is actually in a condition of stress.
Just watch the evening news or get a newspaper and you will probably understand the sin and evil rampant in this world that has man in their grip. It’s tremendously stressful to determine or read this stuff. Pressure and tension build until a lot of people attain the point where they want it will all disappear completely or they can escape the strain.
To be sold because of this stress would truly be not merely good news, but Fantastic news. That is certainly just what Jesus and the disciples offered in their teachings, and why people flocked to listen to these words of the very good news with the gospel of Christ.
The truth in the Gospel is about freedom, and it’s also on the market today just as it turned out during this time period. The good thing from the gospel offers freedom from bondage, freedom from sin, freedom from stress and freedom coming from all the pressures of this world. And if you’ve got freedom readily available you will find the a very important factor that world cannot get for you… peace.
For many who have the truth with the gospel it comes with an inner peace, which comes from knowing Jesus and applying his teachings in your life. When you are at ease within, that no more matters what the world throws to you because it can’t affect you if you do not allow it. Peace within nowadays of great disaster and troubles is actually fantastic news as well as a real blessing to all who find and receive it.
But there is so much more available in the gospel of Christ. He offers wish for a greater life, both now on this planet, and into eternity somewhere high won’t be any sickness, disease, death or any sort of evil.
And the best news of all is that this is freely offered to anyone and everyone who chooses to look for it through Jesus. The Gospel of Christ isn’t just good news it’s GREAT| news.
