How weddings have changed within the decades! From a handful to 400-500 invited guests; one-two to six-eight wedding ceremony members; a simple wedding car to expensive and big wedding cars; three course meals to six course meals; 1-3 live bands; simple attire to colorful and flamboyant dresses, suits and attire and off-the-cuff to well-prepared wedding speeches.

While we’re talking about the second, wedding speeches are nevertheless an important part of a wedding and guests do look ahead to hearing them, referring to them before, during and indeed after they’ve been delivered.

We know of wedding speeches delivered ahead of the meal, throughout the meal and after your food, however it’s of your strong opinion that the wedding speeches must be delivered after the meal. I am aware that for a lot of wedding ceremony speakers i.e. Father with the Bride Speech, Father with the Groom Speech, Bride Speech, Groom Speech and Bestman Speech (5 main speakers), they might would rather hold the wedding speeches prior to meal, to allow them to enjoy their meal (a number of them are spending money for it!). However, all is here the invited guests and the way many (and even the wedding venue staff) would like the marriage speeches to be delivered after the meal for several reasons, most of which include:

The invited guests are already fed and watered and aren’t listening to wedding speeches before eating anything (at least of food, which could be so prior to meal, though weddings today do provide light snacks upon arrival at the wedding venue)
Food may be cooked and served at the agreed time (introduce the wedding ceremony speeches before the meal and their is actually a delay of 15 minutes one.5 hours, driving the kitchen staff crazy continuing to keep food freshly cooked, presentable and edible)
The marriage speeches become the transition from the meal to the dancing (broke and alone happening as soon as the meal, people are expecting ‘a few words’ to get shared regarding the Bride & Groom and they know they can wake up, move, take a break, take a stroll, see a bar…)
It’s not easy for fogeys from the Bride & Groom to communicate in public, since most of them wouldn’t be used of it. So, they can, whenever they so wished, speak prior to the / their meal.

There should still be some form of formal wedding speech(es) following your meal…
