Favorite NY Comic Greg Kritikos turns Misery into Movie Magic in CHARLIE BOY

Spend One minute with Greg Kritikos and you will realise why this Ny comic headliner has audiences flocking to him and great buzz surrounding his starring role in CHARLIE BOY, a new comedy movie by Timothy Hines.

Greg Kritikos was always likely to be a beloved comedic celebrity. This gritty, street-wise, reformed gangster may be when compared with Jackie Gleason for his heart and appeal. He’s frequently popular to headline New York City’s biggest and most legendary comedy clubs, including Gotham, Carolines and Dangerfield’s. And today he’s the starring role within the feature comedy CHARLIE BOY, which Kritikos co-wrote with Frederick Stroppel and that also features Kelly Le Brock as Donna and Burt Young as Luca.

CHARLIE BOY, based loosely on Greg Kritikos’ true to life, follows the tale of straight and sober recovering mobster Charlie Borakos. Charlie now functions as a standup comedian and, after many years of recovery and providing time for his beloved community of Astoria, Queens Ny, he’s still burdened from the guilt of his son’s death and friend’s maiming due to his drinking, drugging and negligence in history. While buddy Tommy G’s gambling problem surfaces for the extreme and his awesome prior mob boss Big Angie moves into town, Charlie’s benevolent and save-the-day attitude and knack for doing all he is able to to assist others and turn misfortune into laughter, saves the morning and catapults Charlie to the next level of enlightenment.

Charlie Boy director Timothy Hines says, “It was Greg and Frederick’s script that drove me to create Charlie Boy. I have worked with this business for decades i have not read such a perfectly balanced and honest comedy. I had to get this movie. And with Greg, a few things i can advise you, he could be a walking dynamo and every inch an accessible humanist.”

“When I met Greg Kritikos I immediately saw this modern-day Jackie Gleason slash James Cagney man having a soul-spilling heart, who forced me to be laugh my face using one-liners and improvising,” comments producer Susan Goforth who is producing CHARLIE BOY together with Kritikos. “Kritikos combined with Frederick Stroppel’s comedic writing, the leadership of director Timothy Hines and executive producer Dominick Martini as well as a heaven-sent cast and crew, and that i knew CHARLIE BOY would come out a victor. I am just so thankful for all and all sorts of fortune with this picture. I can’t wait for world to find out Greg Kritikos knock this out of your park.”
