A German shepherd takes your home, garden and possessions into his loyal care and definately will guard those possessions with his life! He not just needs your love; he needs your attention to his general welfare. Provide these simple needs plus your Shepherd puppy will probably be devoted to you for a lifetime. If you do have children in the home, take care since the puppy may leave ‘presents’ around which the baby seems to find before you do! Training will solve that potential problem. Because puppies wake in the night the same as infants, many times your personal child cranky from waking using the puppy. And it’s really smart to keep the child’s stuffed toys and toys beyond a puppy’s reach–they wish to chew.
Before you take your dog home, though, consider adopting an adult dog. Experts say it is not just till your dog hits sexual maturity that some innate behavioral problems may start to surface. A breeder is only able to guess what type of adult a puppy will make, while it’s easy to get an adult dog you’ll love forever. Rather than under any circumstances buy a German shepherd puppy from a puppy mill. A puppy mill can be a breeder or breeding company which includes low standards for environment, care, training, breeding you aren’t. Puppy mills are generally overcrowded and contain too many kinds of dogs. On the other hand, a “backyard breeder” can be a great as well as source to find a German shepherd puppy. If you can, familiarize yourself with the oldsters of the puppy to make a guess regarding the puppy’s future temperament.
Remember, German shepherds stay puppies till these are 6 to 7 years of age!
